For more than 60 years, Multivac has been one of the leading manufacturers of packaging machines around the world. ZEN has recently installed PV solar on their Auckland hub.

Multivac has strong environmental objectives globally and ZEN were able to meet their objectives. Through our modelling, we estimated annual savings of $8K and importantly for them, carbon reductions of 50% annually.

We interviewed General Manager, Nick Wells, to dig into why Multivac made the switch to solar power.

What were your main drivers to get solar? ESG / Environmental, anything else?

Our business has embedded sustainability into our core strategic objectives as we work toward 2030. Embracing solar energy was the natural next step in that journey. It offers immediate, measurable benefits - significantly reducing our carbon footprint while providing greater energy independence.

Why did you choose ZEN in the end?

We initially researched ZEN and were impressed by their strong reviews. Throughout the feasibility process, they stayed fully engaged, demonstrating professionalism and making collaboration easy and efficient.

 What made you get back in touch this year after initial conversations last year?

 At the end of 2024, we presented our business case to the Board of Directors. Backed by the comprehensive metrics provided by ZEN, the decision was clear - moving forward (with solar) in 2025 was an easy choice.

 Were you happy with the level of service you received?

 The professionalism and clear communication we experienced from the outset carried through to the installation phase. Our team noted how well the installation crew conducted themselves and appreciated the minimal disruption to our operations throughout the process. Our team has been genuinely engaged and enthusiastic about the solar installation. An unexpected consequence, and a truly rewarding one, has been seeing how much they value and acknowledge our commitment to sustainability. Their excitement reinforces the positive impact this initiative is having across our business.
